In a weeks time, the European Senior Tour 2015 will come to a close at the beautiful Constance Belle Mare Plage, Mauritius. The Order of Merit has already been won and emphatically so by Scot Colin Montgomerie, who can thank his exceptional form in the Senior Open, the US Senior Open and the US Senior PGA Championship. Catmandoo's Paul Wesselingh finds himself in 6th after another solid season, however he has an ace up his sleeve for this final event.
Paul is looking to make history, by claiming the season-ending MCB Tour Championship for a third time. Not only that, it would make it a hattrick of wins in 3 consecutive years, as he claimed the title in 2013 and 2014. "I just love the place and I love the course, it’s definitely my style of track and that’s been shown in my results the last couple of years. I feel very comfortable there, so I can’t wait to get back and try to make it three in a row.” He is weary of the threat that Montgomerie will play in his bid for history however: "He’s now had two tremendous seasons on the Senior Tour, and he’s had umpteen top five finishes on the Champions Tour as well this year. So he’s going to be very dangerous as he always is. The odds are against me winning again, but stranger things have happened and I’ll be giving it my best shot.”
We'll be keeping tabs on Paul next week as he bids for his third MCB Tour Championship title in as many years. Best of luck, Paul!
One of the bestsellers from this Winter has been the lovely Tilda jacket. It is a wonderfully warm, thermal fleece jacket with satin quilting on both front and back. It looks great in both the crisp Winter White and Luscious Purple colours. Contact us to enquire about availability.
Catmandoo's Paul Wesselingh has been globe trotting recently, with a short stop in Japan proceding the Scottish Senior Open this weekend (27th-29th Aug) in North Berwick, Scotland, followed quickly by the Travis Perkins Masters (4th-6th Sept) at the Woburn Golf Club, England. The latter is the final event of the season on home-soil for the Englishman, so he'll be hoping for a good showing.
With a month-gap until the penultimate event on the Senior Tour calendar, Paul will be heading back to Japan to take part in some Japanese Tour events, before he makes for France and the French Riviera Masters.
As ever, the season concludes with the MCB Tour Championship at the Constance Belle Mare Plage, Mauritius - an event Paul will be heading to looking for a third consectuive win at, having won in 2013 and 2014.

Paul Wesselingh is in The Golden State of California this week as he looks to make an impact in the US Senior Open at Del Paso Country Club. Paul will be hoping to leave the Sacramento club with some special memories and after he shot a first round 69, to put him tied-13th at 1-under par, he just might get his wish.
The Catmandoo man is in exalted company, alongside Major winners Tom Watson (1st on 4-under) and Bernhard Langer (T41 on 1-over), as well as a raft of big names such as Colin Montgomerie (T8 on 2-under) and Miguel Angel Jimenez (T58 on 2-over).
Paul's best finish in this event was a 65th placed finishing in 2013. If he can keep up with the pace-setters, it could be a very special weekend for him. Best of luck, Paul!
Paul Wesselingh got his European Senior Tour season off to the perfect start last weekend with a win at Celtic Manor in the SSE Enterprise Wales Senior Open.
After defeating Bernhard Langer in Germany last year, Paul took down another Masters winner in Ian Woosnam on his way to victory last Sunday, adding to an already impressive list of victories. It was an excellent three rounds from him and this secured him a two stroke victory and his eigth senior tour title, with home favourite Woosnam the man in second.
Next up for Paul is the Acorn Jersey Open, where he'll be looking for his third win on the bounce (this after he was victorious in last years season ender). After that, it till be the ISPS Handa: a tournament Paul's claimed the spoils in twice in it the past three years.
Catmandoo is celebrating National Golf Month this May, so why don't you?
National Golf Month is a nationwide campaign, aiming to encourage as many people as possible to experience golf for themselves. Taking place throughout May, there will be coaching oppourtunities and taster sessions, as well as open days at golf clubs up and down the country. You can find out more about these events and much, much more by visiting the National Golf Month website.
With established golfing names like Paul McGinley and Paul Wesselingh backing it, as well as a host of upcoming stars like Charley Hull and TV & Radio personalities alike, it is a very worthy cause for people of all ages and abilities to get behind.
Here's a short video clip of Paul Wesselingh teeing off during the Sunningdale Foursomes this week. Ranked 6th on last years European Senior Tour Order of Merit, Paul is seen here wearing a blue Catmandoo Thermalite. He exclusively wears Catmandoo on the European Senior Tour.
Paul Wesselingh closed his 2014 season on the European Senior Tour with an exhilarating win in Mauritius, edging out fellow Englishman Barry Lane to the title. Paul carded consecutive rounds of 3-under 69 to finish at 9-under par after 54 holes of regulation play. He was unable to put from four feet on the 18th hole to win outright and so was forced into a nervous playoff struggle with Lane.
The pair then produced some scintillating golf, each birdying the playoff hole 5 times, before Lane was unable to sink his putt from 4 feet on the 6th time, leaving Paul a tap in for victory. "I’m just delighted & relieved to win. I was shaking on the 18th green in regulation play. Nerves just got to me, so to finally finish it off is fantastic" Paul said after his win. Paul has fond memories of playing at the Constance Belle Mare Plage after last year when he was able to secure first place on the European Senior Tour Order of Merit with a victory. "It’s wonderful to win this title again though and I do feel very proud. I’ve always said I feel really honoured to play with these guys, I really do mean that. They are legends, so it is very special."
Scotsman Colin Montgomerie claimed the Order of Merit titles this year by a record margin and with record winnings. His remarkable season has seen him claim victory 4 times, including 2 Major wins. Paul's victory boosted him to 6th in the overall standings, securing him an automatic spot for next years US Senior Open.
Paul Wesselingh made a fine start to the European Senior Tour season closer at the Constance Belle Mare Plage in Mauritius, with a 3-under par 69 on his first round. It's an event he is very fond after taking home top honours 12 months ago, cementing his first place on the European Senior Tour Order of Merit by doing so. He's one shot back from early leader, and fellow englishman, Barry Lane, who was the only player to shoot under 69. This years Order of Merit winner Colin Montgomerie finished his round at 2-under par, but it was a day to forget for former Ryder Cup winning captain Sam Torrance, who finished his round at 5-over par.
Before the rounds got underway, there was time for a bit of fun as Paul, Colin and Sam all took part in the island challange, trying to get as close to the pin as they could. Click here to see the video.
We've been at Catmandoo HQ in Finland this week to have a look at the Aumtumn & Winter 2015 range. There were plenty of friendly faces around and lots of great new products that we can't wait to get our hands on.
There was also a very special guest joining us, as Finnish freestyle skier AJ Kemppainen was in attendance. AJ competed in the finals of the men's halfpipe at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and will be working with Catmandoo on their 'New School Ski' style.
